Wasatch Woman

September 6, 2008

Distance: 10k

Time: 1:09:32

Pace: 11:12/M

This race felt awesome. The only major drawback was the heat and the massive hill we had to climb up twice. Without that hill my time would have been much better. My favorite part was having Bryce there to cheer me on. :)

This race went to benefit SPEAK- Students Promoting Eating disorder Awareness and Knowledge and was held at the UofU.

Top of Utah Half Marathon

September 23, 2008
Distance: 13.2 Miles
Time: 2:49:03

I waited another two years to run a race. The marathon was awesome, but I had distractions in those two years. I met Bryce a few months later and we were married 8 months after that. Since then we have bought a town home, I switched jobs, and we have adopted two dogs.
The half marathon was a month earlier than I thought it was, but I am so glad I ran it anyway. I have regained focus and remember why I love running so much and why it is so addicting.

Salt Lake City Marathon

Distance: 26.2 Miles

Time: 5:48:31

Pace: 13:18/M

It's crazy how emotional I started to feel towards the end of the race. I think my body was totally thrown off and didn't know how to react. Around mile 22 I got a massive blister on the bottom of my right foot and it hurt with every step and it hurt way worse to walk than it did to run, but I didn't have the energy to run for very long periods of time. I knew that I had to finish, it wasn't an option, there was no one to scoop me up and carry me home to the Gateway which was also the finish line.

I did it. I accomplished a marathon. It seems like so many people run marathons so they aren't that big of a deal, but until you have run one, no one can describe to you what it is really like.
This race went to benefit the Huntsman Cancer Institute

The Great Saltair Winter Series

February 7, 2004

Distance: 10k

Time: 1:13:44.4

Pace: 11:54/M

Probably the worst race of my life so far. It was snowing, my batteries died about a minute into the race, I gave blood the day before and then I started me period that day. Two out of the four things were my own stupidity, the other two were mother nature!

I was really glad I at least had my family there to support me, but I didn't run another race for 2 years. Yeah, it was that bad.

Keeping Track

I don't know exactly where it started, maybe in my quest to be thinner, I decided that I wanted to be a runner. Not the crazy kind that runs 50 mile races but maybe a marathon or two in my life. Along the way my relationship with running has been up and down. I think running will be a part of my life forever. I may not always be training for a race, but running is something that helps to relieve stress and help keep my head on my shoulders.

Starting in February of 2004 I started to keep a list of the races I ran and my times. This blog is supposed to be a replacement for that notebook, an easier way to keep track of things without losing it.

I am not fast, maybe someday I will be, maybe not, but I will always love running.
